Here is an excellent example of extending a company’s brand into new mobile and embedded devices (which incidentally run Flash).
In this case, we are talking about the Chumby (an embedded open source internet connected device for delivering content).

Dating DNA Chumby widget
Here is more about Dating DNA:
“Today, more and more people are using free social networking sites like MySpace, Facebook, Craigslist, and others to meet new people for dating. Utilizing these sites is free and provides a more natural way of meeting new people than traditional dating sites of the past, such as Match.com and eHarmony.
This is a preview of Extending your brand to the Chumby platform (via Flash Lite Widgets)

Here is an evolving project for Flash Lite called Mxim which aims to deliver text and images within a framework.
Mxim Framework is an application development framework for hand held devices. It is a benchmark architecture for serving content on hand held devices.
Mxim Framework facilitates developers to port Web 2.0 experience on mobile devices and concentrate on application logics rather than worry about memory and processing issues on small devices.
It also facilitates web developers to port their websites from the desktop environment to mobile devices without sacrificing the richness of their content.

SpitFun: I think this is a Flash Mobile game (or perhaps a mix of desktop and mobile? Multiplayer, maybe … not sure?!). More information can be found over at www.spitfun.com.
Apparently, according to the current incarnation of the site … it is tentatively scheduled for May 12, 2008 launch. So check back then!
There is a video short here, and some assets on flickr. Looks to be something Andrea Trentro is working on.
Looks interesting!

Ignite Boston 3
The third Ignite Boston will be on Thursday, May 29, from 6 to 10pm at Tommy Doyle’s in Harvard Square, Cambridge, MA.
This time, we’re using two floors at Tommy Doyle’s, so the acoustics will be better than our first event there. From 6-6:45 pm, mingle and talk tech with your fellow FOOs, alpha geeks, and techies from the greater Boston area.
After the mingling and social stuff, we’ll have a couple of special keynote presentations by Jonathan Zdziarski of iPhone notoriety and John Viega of Security notoriety to kick off our Ignite talks.
This is a preview of Ignite Boston 3 - May 29th in Cambridge, MA

Via Bill Perry (Adobe, Mobile and Devices): there is a new devnet (aka ADC) article on Developing Flash Lite applications with dynamic layouts.
“In this tutorial I describe the process I used to develop the dynamic layout of the Bacardi® Mobile Cocktail application.
I’ll cover how to react to environment changes, such as the current time of day, and how to implement automatic Stage size and orientation switching.
Automatic adjustment is especially important for devices such as the Nokia N95, because it is capable of changing its resolution. For other devices, you will learn how to manually alter the orientation of your application to mimic that functionality.

Adobe Mobile and Devices) had a recent posting on working with Flash Lite 3 video and Flash Media Server.
The article is a bit rough around the edges (expect some spelling errors here and there), but it’s a lengthy post, so it will likely turn into an article at some point in the future.
It deals with streaming video from Flash Media Server down to Flash Lite 3 handsets (one of the latest features to find it’s way into Flash Lite, as of 3.x).
You can read the article here: Flash Lite 3 and Flash Media Server.

Mark posted about Adobe MAX 2008 and his thoughts on this years planned events. MAX 2008 is taking place this year in San Francisco, Milan, and Tokyo.
My top 10 wish list directed at Mobile (in no particular order):
• Another Mobile and Devices - BootCamp, please.
• Session(s) from the Mobile and Devices Engineering team
• Flash Home - is there a roadmap to get developers on board?
• Bring in more Mobile Partners to showcase on the floor! Not just OEM’s … but also aggregators, content providers and the like (with heavy floor discount for the smaller players)!
