New Orleans site seeing on Sunday …

Sunday, October 31st, 2004

I got here a bit early so I decided to do some site sighting … French Quarter, Bourbon St, etc … it’s ironic, but I swear that Halloween has nothing to do with the way people are dressing around here … lots of leather, tats, etc … :)

We’ll see what people are wearing tomorrow … I do know there a bunch of bikers in town this weekend to celebrate halloween … I’ll have to check it out tonight.

Anyways, here are some pictures I snapped on my way … more to come. Lots of visuals here in N’warlins.

Adobe Acrobat PDF Security problem with embedded .swf’s

Wednesday, October 20th, 2004

Came across an article that lays out how to read local files from a user’s pc using Acrobat 6 … basically having an embedded .swf within a PDF is a security risk, such that if you know the location of a file on a user’s machine you can read it …

  1. Create a local file called “c:\jelmer.txt” then click the link below …
  2. Demo

Ought-oh.

Flash IDE bugs galore

Tuesday, October 5th, 2004

Recently, I’ve come across several bugs in both the MAC and PC versions of 2004 …

1. If you are working with embedded video files greatly than 8 megs … or the timeline frames exceeeds 5,000 or so, there is a HUGE performance hit under MAC … strange thing is, the PC handles it a lot better … literally I have to wait 30-60 seconds to scrub the timeline when large video is embedded. seems like a bug to me since the PC version is quicker …

Been a while since my last post, sorry …

Saturday, October 2nd, 2004

Sorry it’s been so long since my last post … it’s not like this is a well traversed site … maybe someday when it gets included on MXNA or something …

Anyways I’ve been busy with an interactive CD-ROM with integrated video, as well as doing some actionscript instructing at a local institution. Students are stoked at taking their flash animation knowledge and applying it to actionscript.

Looking forward to MAX, though I’m not quite sure what to expect this year. Will see you there probably if you are reading this … looking forward to picking up some macromedia SWAG!
