Flash IDE bugs galore

October 5th, 2004 by Scott Janousek

Recently, I’ve come across several bugs in both the MAC and PC versions of 2004 …

1. If you are working with embedded video files greatly than 8 megs … or the timeline frames exceeeds 5,000 or so, there is a HUGE performance hit under MAC … strange thing is, the PC handles it a lot better … literally I have to wait 30-60 seconds to scrub the timeline when large video is embedded. seems like a bug to me since the PC version is quicker …

2. Last night I came home to find my 2004 gobbling up all my memory. Must be a memory leak … it was up to 300MB, incrementing slowly but steadily … not sure what it could have been … wasn’t publishing anything. Was on the PC version.

3. I have a folder with several hundred images … sometimes I’m not able to drag it into another folder … sometimes I am. Seems like a bug to me.

I’ve found a few others … I’d post the screen shots, but needless to say that flash bombed out … with errors like “Flash MX is having issues …”

8-ball here we come.
