I’ve just started the design of my 1st FlashLite game … it’s currently top-secret, but I’ll be posting an alpha soon. It’s an “old skool” arcarde game … if I could only get my nokia 3660 to vibrate … seems the fscommand2 isn’t working on that model …

If you’re like me, you tossed your flash 4 books a while back (I did keep my flash 4 magic book…) … now, you’re starting to do flashlite development and need resources … well my friend, check out amazon’s used books …

I just picked up a copy of flash 4 bible for $1.00 … the flash4 magic book is decent as well since it covers some tellTarget material … I also managed to track down some original macromedia documentation …

I listened to a few folks hinting at the new AS 3.0 capabilities … frankly I’m wondering how much time is being devoted to flash UI components these days … I was bit disheartened by Nigel Pegg’s presentation I attended … every fustration I’ve had with dealing with flash app development was touched upon … and frankly Flex seems to be the right approach for app development … but even flex is a bit immature … but I’m speaking in terms of the 1.0 product … guess there is a 1.5 out now (the new charting capabilities does look appealing i must say) … I’ll have to see what they’ve addressed …

I sat in on a focus group last week on Flash Video … very informative … embedded cuepoints were hinted at (synch points in .flvs) … will probably be a synch class in the next rev … a prototype for a new import UI was demoed … guess they are on fence about making flash too much like a video editing tool … frankly, I’d like to see them buy out sorenson and integrate it … but I don’t think there’s any reason for a full blow video editing tool … the flash authoring tool is bloated as it is … can’t wait for the new video capabilities in fp8 … hopefully the new codec will blow everyone away.
