I just caught this in the latest JDJ magazine … it’s a company that allows you the experience high-end telescopic viewing of our universe … all piped to your desktop live.

The servers are supposedly in NY, and the observatory is in the Canary islands somewhere …

They are using Solaris, Linux, Apache, mySQL, Java, and Flash Communication Server to achieve this remote celestial viewing service …

I guess it was only a matter of time before someone starting charging to look at the sky! … but, if you’re into astronomy I bet it’s worth the dough just judging from some of the footage.

I just got my Flash Lite Contest shirt today. Got to love the macro swag!

It’s a long sleeved charcoal colored Macro jersey with logo on the sleeve … I was hoping it said “Flash is mobile”, but it doesn’t, maybe it’s not trademarked yet!? No biggie.

The accompanying letter was a nice touch. I know the team is heads down into getting more stuff out there. I’m personally looking forward to helping push Flash Lite out of early adopter mode and into money making mode over the next year …

“phosphor alpha” … aka unreal tournament? One shockwave game you can’t but love … and one more reason why Flash will never replace Director (well, at least not without bloating the fp footprint, etc).

I was a big fan of the original book: Foundation PHP for Flash that came out a few years back …

Now I recently noticed that a revised book is on the horizon (slated for this month) … looks interesting and along the same lines as the original title.

I really haven’t been involved in any client Flash/PHP projects recently, but I think it’s a great tool for rapid development … and if I remember correctly IBM just put some chunk of change into it as an alternative to it’s ongoing java efforts …
