Using the AS2 PrintJob class … using attachmovie? or using stage mc’s?

Sunday, June 19th, 2005

Yes, the printjob class has been around for quite a while, but I’m finally getting a chance to use it in a more sophisticated way (dynamic text in mc’s etc) …

This post is for AS2 folks who have dealt with the PrintJob class before on a sophisticated level (dynamic text, graphics, etc). I’d like some feedback on the best way to handle sophisticated “print layouts” … think reports … and avoid any potential pitfalls!

SWF2SIS v2 - Product Review

Friday, June 17th, 2005

“5/5 stars” - Scott Janousek

“SWF2SIS is a wizard designed to help you create more effective applications in Flash Lite 1.1 for mobile handsets using the Series 60 2nd Edition Operating system from Symbian. In short, SWF2SIS provides a way to package your application .swf file with any extra files (sfws, txt files etc.) and attach an icon which will appear on the handset’s menu to launch the application, then save it all in a single installer file.”

Mobile game presentations … trends from Japan … some Flash Lite intermixed as well.

Saturday, June 11th, 2005

I came across some interesting presentations by David “DC” Collier a while back but forgot to blog about it … I believe he is based in Japan … all of them are in english … there is some Flash Lite content in there as well … good to browse if you’re curious about the Japanense marketplace and trends in regards to mobile gaming.

Here is the link to his presentations:

An addicting game … but only when you have your speakers turned on …

Saturday, June 4th, 2005

Sound. It makes or breaks your flash game … take this example I found recently … if you play with the speakers off it’s much less satisfying than with audio … or is it me?

http://www.sobicsschool.com/fun/fun_game2.swf

There’s something to be said about certain sound octaves in games making them more addictive … just look at slot machines, they use a combination of notes known to keep you playing …

I imagine there is a white/research paper or presentation somewhere about this.
