Pictures from 1st official Flash Mobile User Group Meeting (Boston)

Tuesday, August 23rd, 2005

We had our 1st official Flash Mobile meeting in Boston tonight. Below are a few pictures from the event (sorry … from my 6600 not my 6680). :(

We talked about Flash, Flash Lite, projects, hopes & dreams, etc.

In case you’re wondering, Alessandro has an evolving site up at: http://www.flashmobilegroup.org/. Nice.

Flashhandout Beta - convert Flash FLAs and SWFs to PDFs

Saturday, August 13th, 2005

Yes, we have Flash Paper, using Distiller to create PDF’s, and there is even some open-source ActionScript out there to dynamically create PDFs (albeit very basic PDFs for the free version) …

But, with the future of Flash Paper eventually in the hands of a email if you’d like to beta test.

Macromedia Flash Mobile Certification … just an idea …

Wednesday, August 10th, 2005

I know many of you reading this entry are probably Macromedia certified in something or rather … either that or you’re a subject matter expert who “boycotts” the exams :)

Anyways, I don’t think anyone can contest that certification exams proliferate learning and give technology exposure …

Certification Exams are always an additional indication that a technology is worth learning, knowing, and preaching. :)

In addition to Macromedia’s current list, I hereby propose a “Flash Mobile” Developer Certification … aka Flash Lite Designer/Developer Cert. Hey, if there is a J2ME exam, why not a FL exam??

Snowy

“Defeat all the strange monsters and head back to the arctic.
And, of course, collect all the bonuses along the way. The more the better.”

Lots of nice touches to this platform game

Every few months I make it a habit to check out O’Reilly’s new/incoming books section …

I just noticed there’s a book due out right about now for all us mobile (flashlite) folks called: … Nokia Smartphone Hacks - Tips & Tools for Your Smallest Computer. Anyways, just thought I’d post a link to it

Although most of the content seems straight forward … might be a few tid-bits inside to pick up on …

Here is the book info:
