The “Ultimate” USB Key?

October 27th, 2005 by Scott Janousek

I caught these articles posted … not really Macromedia related, but it’s practical info if you ever forget those MS Office CDs and are in a bind … or find yourself at MAX with thousands trying to download the Flex 2 Alpha … USB to the rescue … or, perhaps you have that craving for that much needed linux “session” after a 2 consecutive BSODs … then check out the metropipe distro link below.

The “Ultimate” USB Key:

It’s also pretty cool that you can pick up a 128 or 256MB stick now for literally free (well, after rebate that is) … and even the 1 GIG sticks are almost affordable for most tech savvy consumers. It’s also worth commenting that 16/32 MB sticks are almost good enough to put your mini portfolio on and distribute … better than a CD, except the autostart is still a bit klunky … they are smaller, more durable, and clients love the fact they’re reusable … now if only they were cheaper … (mini) CD’s are still the way to go for mass production. :)

I use an IPod Shuffle (1GB). It is a great cross platform USB Flash drive. Plus you get a great music player as well. All my presentation and key files are on my shuffle. Ted :)

You could even put a php webserver on it and sql lite database.
    I did it here: http://www.mbedthis.com/solutions/spotlight.html

you could put it on a cd and set the server to auto run..or some usb keys allow you to set autorun on them.
