BFPUG

We had our first Boston Flash Platform User Group meeting tonight.

Perhaps a few hand fulls of people showed. Overall a good turn out for that “neck of the woods” (literally). The Massachusetts Medical Society in Waltham was a nice place to meet for the 1st time. I think they publish the New England Journal of Medicine which Harvard and a bunch of other institutions collobrate on.

It was also interesting to hear about Flash within the medical community, as a multimedia tool. Something you don’t hear people talk about too often.

The agenda was fairly loose, but we talked about possible topics for future meetings, technology/tools people we were using in our daily flash work … mobile as a platform, as well as Flex, AJAX (not the car wax) … plus a lot more. I won’t post it all here (maybe Keith or Eric will post some) … besides, more incentive for you to attend (if you are in the area)!

Next meeting is … I believe at the Adobe Newton office, MA. I think the topic is to TBD, but it could be Design Patterns. Check out the BFUG site for more details … and for those who aren’t able to physically make these (DP for one) … I believe we have a breeze account we may take advantage in upcoming events.

Here are a few pics I snapped with my 6620 (sorry about the quality):

The camera was in the nokia 6620. I believe it’s less than 1 MP, but my 6680 has a 1.x MP.

… imagine the quality I would have had with a 7 MP camera phone … which sadly we do not have yet here in the States! :)

Looks like you guys had a great first meeting. I wish I still lived in Boston so I could join you. Perhaps I’ll be able to use Breeze to take part.

[...] Well, we managed to pull off our first informal meeting. Scott Janousek has posted some photos to prove it. The meeting was pretty informal. Just met and talked about random, generally Flash-related topics. About a dozen showed up, which is about what I expected. Sorry I can’t remember everyone’s name. [...]
