Wednesday, March 15th, 2006

Samsung has another handset (Korean market only!), similar to the sghs380 … features a Flash Lite based UI, it’s the SCH-V910.
This is a standard slider with Moneta functionality, which allows you to pay for items by waving your phone around.
It’s also an CDMA2000/EVDO phone with video-on-demand, MP3 player, and a motion sensing Flash [...]

Adobe “Six Stories” - Mobile is one story

Wednesday, March 15th, 2006

Adobe has some interesting material out to it’s stockholders, called “Six Stories”.
It’s in a similar vein to the mobile Engage campaign, but encompasses more of the product line from Adobe. Now complete with all the products … Flash, Flash Lite, etc.
I was, however, surprised not to not see server products (Flex, CF, etc) [...]

Mobile Device Profile Update #2

Tuesday, March 14th, 2006

Mobile Device Profile Update #2 was released on 3/1/2006.
This brings up a point … as far as I know there wasn’t any news posted … and it wasn’t part of the official Flash Lite 2 update (see version info below).

You would never know it was released unless you were notified somehow (RSS, email, flashing [...]

Dasher: keyboard-less text input for mobile devices

Wednesday, March 8th, 2006

Let’s face it. Practical text input with mobile devices without bloating the footprint is a hardware designer’s dilemma.
Sure, you can add some sort of quasi-keyboard, but then it’s not so mobile anymore … or isn’t “practical” … it usually requires more than one hand or significant training and practice.
Sure there are tricks like T9 input, [...]

oqo (windows tablet device) … “device insurance” ???

Tuesday, March 7th, 2006

Eric Doleki just reviewed the oqo, a mini-device tablet that runs Windows.
This is one windows device you need to get insurance on before you start taking it around with you.
Literally, a $2000 theft or “oppsee your friend sat on it”.
If you’ve ever owned a laptop, you probably either had one of these experiences directly, or [...]
