chumby

If you have a chumby and developing Flash Lite widgets for it (or thinking about doing so), please email me. I have something I’d like to share, that I created a while back.

Some of you from MAX I may have already contacted … if so, disregard.

flagr: Share cool places from online/from your mobile

Saturday, October 28th, 2006

flagr

Nothing to do with Flash Lite, but I wanted to post about flagr, since they got a write up in MHT (Mass High Tech).

The idea is pretty straight forward, share places of interest on a map via TXT’ing instead of GPS. Here is the low down:

The founders believed there should be an easy way for EVERYONE to share where they go, while on the go. Such a system would not be limited to use with fancy GPS-enabled mobile phones. Instead, it would rely on the already-popular text messaging infrastructure available on almost every cell phone. With such a system, users previously excluded from such services can take part in an extraordinary social experience. They can Sharewhere, anywhere.

schematic

Just a quick FYI, but I have just come aboard schematic.com in the recently formed Boston office. Yes, we are now in the city, known simply as “Bean Town”.

I’ll post more about this at a later date … when I know specifically what I am able to, and not able to, talk about.

IRiver Clix 4GB

Via Lars-Eberhard Schmidt, the 4GB IRiver Clix will soon be available in various
regions.

Yes, it is running Flash Lite 2, as is it’s 2GB predecessor (although they *could* have updated the device hardware and/or firmware … including the Flash Lite 2 Player capabilities). Have to wait and see.

Oh, and also a small aesthetic change. This model appears to be completely black in color.

Flash Lite - Community Worldmap

Friday, October 6th, 2006

It’s been about two years since the global introduction of Flash Lite to the world. I thought it might be interesting to see the community as some sort of “geocentric” type representation.

I recently found this nifty service called FRAPPR which allows just this, so I thought I’d post and put it to some good use.

View: Flash Lite Community Worldmap (at 900 x 600)

Please add yourself to this “Community Worldmap” if you are working with Flash Lite (use the “shout-out textbox” to put in your little blurb, Example: “I’m working with Flash Lite 2.1 content or, I’m working with x,y,z.” ).
