In regards to our Foundation Flash Applications for Mobile Devices book.
I was just looking at some trackbacks and found that Hayden Porter had also written a blog post review of the book. Read it.
Here is a snippet:
” … Overall, I would highly recommend this book to anyone interested in Flash Lite mobile development. It offers great tips and serves as a useful reference for those already experienced with mobile development, and should help to smooth the learning curve for those new to Flash Lite development. For more details on the book, visit the web site, www.flashmobilebook.com.”

The archive from yesterday’s fiercewireless session is now online.
I recommend everyone watch this one, as Bill did a really great job explaining the mobile playing field as Adobe sees it.
Also included in this preso are some comments on their plans to target the lower-end spectrum of the handset market. I think this is due (in part) to some of the technology they picked up from the ActImagine acquisition that occurred a while back.
There is also some mention of some global FlashCast deploys in the works. People are always asking me about FlashCast, so here’s your chance to know what’s up.

Vivek was asking about this page (English).
Always good to see some of the newest and most popular devices over there despite the never ending device envy … but our own “keitai” is evolving here in the US … particularly with the existing carriers, as well as some of the newer MVNO’s (Helio and Amp’d come to mind).
… the upcoming iPhone will further help define how the run-of-the-mill consumer here in US views the mobile space … either for good or worse. Let’s hope for the former, rather than the later!

Is it me? or does this site bring back fond memories. Visit Gameavision and enjoy.
I love the game titles here. How could you go wrong with games called: “Sir Eats A lot” ™ , and “Floating Space Rocks” ™? Also “Crosswalk” ™? Looks ho-tttttttttttt!
Also, for kicks, check out the jobs page, or if you’re feeling a tad nostalgic, the BBS page …
Got to love the banner: “America’s #1 gaming company” …

Recently his “Steve-iness” (aka Steve Jobs) feed some tid-bits of info about 3rd party apps on the iPhone. There is more info here.
Supposedly, Apple is “playing it safe” and not planning on having 3rd party on the device *immediately*.
Smart move for sake of stability? … OR, if you think like Alessandro, then it’s also part of a larger conspiracy to dominate the mobile space acting as a MCNO (Mobile Content Network Operator).

Apparently, in a couple weeks, just a mile or two from me is the OLPC “Game Jam” event being conducted at the Olin College of Engineering (think Mini MIT, folks). It’s from June 8 to the 10th.
What is it all about? Here is their event description:

Bill Perry recently acquired a LG Prada phone and will be posting a forthcoming review on his blog over at flashdevices.net. This device was shown back at 3GSM, but apparently is currently shipping (or will ship soon depending on region).
This device sports a Flash Lite 2.1 User Interface, but I’m not entirely sure if the player is accessible development-wise. I’m sure Bill will comment further on this, as well as some of the other features that this device has.

I’ve posted last month’s FITC 2007 slides up on slideshare.net through the Flash Lite Presentation Group.
You can also grab them below:

P.S.
FITC (Toronto) remains my favorite conference bar none, but I’ve also been trying to get myself to: Flash on the Beach (FOTB), Flash Forward, or FlashBelt as I have heard only good things about these events.

I’ve initiated a new community effort: “Sharing your Flash Lite presentations” on slideshare.net. The URL for this is:
http://www.slideshare.net/group/flash-lite-presentations
…
The goal of this endeavor is to have one central location to host community Flash Lite presentation slides (and other Adobe Mobile technologies).
Here’s how I envision the process working … you give a preso to a group (conference, user group, or similar meeting), then afterwards you upload the deck portion of the preso so the rest of the community (that was unable to attend), has access to it in a more central location. Of course, you miss out on the speaker, and the session experience, but slides are better than nothing … and when recording isn’t possible this is the next best thing.
