iRiver U:MO

Via engadget … not surprisingly, iRiver has just announced yet another PMP like device with Flash Lite 2.1 onboard.

This device supports Flash Lite content (games), as well as the infamous D-Click User Interface.

Looks very similar to the iRiver B20 profile, except this device has access to satellite programming (i.e. it supports tv, radio, & other media via DMB) (hence the nasty looking, but much needed antenna).

I’m sure it’ll launch on iRiver soon, at which point I’ll post again. Right now, you can check out a post on the iRiver U:MO (translated from Japanese).

Again, not sure if we’ll see this specific device in the US due to standards, but it’s still cool to see what the Korean marketplace has to offer in terms of mobile tv, radio, and other multimedia.

DMB is very popular in Korea, not surprised to see this unit. The screen might be a little too small to watch TV though.

DY, yes, I know. I was dumbing down the post a bit since many people don’t even know what DMB is.

For those interested, DMB = http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_Multimedia_Broadcasting

Yes, I think viewing of TV might be better for casual content. No one wants to watch the English Patient (4 hour movie???!) on a small screen, but perhaps 20 minute segment, news, or other type casual content …

I guess I’ve thinking more content customized for small screen just as games are …

Never been to Korea, so I don’t know what the channels are like firsthand.

… on a similar note, I have to try the video-out on my N95 tonight.

Please help in finding the best one ;)!

The Clix 2 is a nice PMP. The new lineup from Korea looks really intriguing.

However, I’m not sure if they will ship outside of there. Perhaps.
