SWF Metadata with Flash Lite 1.0, 1.1, and 2.x

Monday, August 27th, 2007

Many Flash folks who read here already know it has been possible to set document Title and Description properties in Flash … this has been in the IDE for as long as I can remember.

However, not everyone knows that as early as Flash 8, this info was actually stored within the compiled .SWF itself, as [...]

scottjanousek.com RSS Chumby widget

Sunday, August 26th, 2007

There is now a chumby widget for my desktop blog.

I’ll make improvements and add more features over time (one of the great features of the chumby … transparent updates to your content … over-the-air!).

‘Super’ Smartphones coming?

Friday, August 24th, 2007

Via Technologies has managed to shrink an integrated motherboard down to 3″ by 1.7″ (smaller than the size of a standard business card).
Nothing surprising, just a bit of Moore’s law here.
Currently dubbed the “Mobile ITX” board, it has a low power consuming Via C7 CPU, memory, and chipset with integrated graphics and video capabilities. [...]

Lots of reports of iPhone being unlocked (finally)

Friday, August 24th, 2007

It didn’t take long (which is why I picked up an iPhone last month despite not activating it … just been using the WiFi via hacks).
Below are some links to follow about unlocking the iPhone for use with other GSM operators … I haven’t tried myself (yet), so I can’t guarantee these are all legit, [...]

onAIR Tour in Boston tomorrow

Thursday, August 23rd, 2007

Just a reminder, but the onAIR bus tour is in Boston tomorrow (actually, judging by the interactive map, they are rolling into Boston via the Mass Pike right now, I believe).
I don’t have time to post too much information (besides, it’s all here), and haven’t honestly looked at the schedule for tomorrow … but it [...]

GamesFlash - Game Review Mobile Magazine

Wednesday, August 22nd, 2007

Christopher Caleb created a game review application/magazine using Flash Lite. It is very cool and you should check it out.
Here’s what he had to say about it:
“It’s called GamesFlash and is completely free to download.
Currently it supports Symbian Series 60 3rd edition devices with a screen resolution of 240×320. It’s basically a games [...]

Flash Forward: Creating and Selling Your Mobile Flash Content session

Tuesday, August 21st, 2007

Bill Perry is a new arrival on the Flash Forward 2007 conference schedule and is speaking about “Creating and Selling Your Mobile Flash Content”.
In Boston, one might say that was “wicked cool” or “wicked piss’ah” … which, BTW, if you’re confused by either of these terms you’d better rewatch Good Will hunting or see The [...]

Authoring Mobile Video Content for Flash Lite 2.x

Monday, August 20th, 2007

There’s a fairly comprehensive post about working with Flash Lite 2.x device video over at mobilenation.
Right now, if you are deploying a video solution out into the marketplace on Flash Lite enabled handsets, then you’re most likely looking at Flash Lite 2.x … so the post is relevant.
Also, if you haven’t picked [...]
