My QRCode trail @ Adobe MAX 2007

Friday, September 28th, 2007

Hi all. I’m trying an interesting experiment with QR Codes while I’m at Adobe MAX 2007.

Basically, if you see the “Community Card” below, you know I’ve been there/meet that person.

If you have a Nokia N95 and/or otherwise have a QR code reader (such as kaywa) installed on your mobile device … or if you’re international and have keitai you can scan this card to contact me (for fun) … since there is no other information on this card, you’ll need to scan the QR to contact me.

FREE copy of Foundation Flash Applications for Mobile Devices @ MAX 2007

Friday, September 28th, 2007

I have a mini contest for those going to Adobe MAX (Chicago) next week.

For those attending the conference, I have a few FREE copies of Foundation Flash Applications for Mobile Devices to give away (3 to be exact).

Rather than just give them out, I thought I’d do a little contest …

Foundation Flash Applications for Mobile Devices (ISBN: 1590595580)

The contest is simple:

  1. Just spot me in one many Flash Mobile sessions going on at Adobe MAX 2007 (Chicago) and …

  2. Say the magic phrase: “Flash Lite is wicked cool”.

Note: I must be present at a mobile session, otherwise it doesn’t count! Those are the rules!

The first 3 people (I am only bringing 3 copies!) to do that win a FREE copy of Foundation Flash Applications for Mobile Devices.

Flash Lite Friday - Tip of the Day #4

Flash Lite Friday - Tip of the Day #4

Memory is a very precious commodity when working with mobile development. This is no fault of the software, but rather the constrained hardware portable devices we (typically) deal with, and in particular, handsets.

Up until just recently, knowledge about the internals of memory allocation and management with Flash Lite has been sporadically posted about on various blogs, forums, and mailing lists.

However, if you were not aware, not so long ago, Prashant Panigrahi (Adobe) wrote a very concise devnet article on memory management and garbage collection when dealing with your Flash Lite content.

I started a little side project, a blog dedicated to the iPhone (literally just started it in motion 10 minutes ago).

Yeah, I do have an iPhone (I am a big fan of Apple, actually if you did not know … just not on the level of say, one Eric Dolecki).

Anyways, I finally unlocked it so I can utilize it in my daily workflow … so far I love the user experience, although it is quite a transition from my Nokia N95 … much more in line with some of my portable media players, such as the iRiver products.

IKEA power charging box via instructables

Monday, September 24th, 2007

This post plays into my previous post about power and mocarbon … for the longest time I wanted to get a power charging system for all my devices …

My first step a few months ago, was a “Power Squid-y” adapter … even though it weights more than I like, it’s definiately a must have for those with lots of devices and on the road …

www.powersquid.com

On the “home front”, however, I recently had a lot of folks ask me of about “re/charging” bins. Yes, I do know some sweet commercial options, but they are way to expensive for what they are/do. BTW: If any companies want me to test out their product, send it my way. :)
