Sony Mylo 2 - Flash Lite 3 supported

Tuesday, January 29th, 2008

Sony Mylo 2

Looks like Bill is geeking out with a new Sony Mylo 2 (which supports a web based implementation of Flash leveraging Flash Lite 3).

He posted about it a while back when it was showcased at CES where he commented:

“The mylo 2 is a WiFi based device that allows users to browse the web with Flash support, check their Facebook accounts, use Skype, take photos and more. It has a 3.5″, 800×480 pixel resolution touch screen and a slide out QWERTY keyboard so viewing content and web pages should be a better experience then smaller screen devices.

Chumby Flash CS3 template & Device Central ADPP

Wednesday, January 23rd, 2008

I forgot to post this a while back, but here is a new zip containing a new Flash CS3 template and accompanying .adpp (device central update file).

This is for those used to working within a mobile context and ADC and just want to carry over a more familiar workflow process. It is not required for chumby widget development … and there are pros and cons to targeting Flash 8 versus Flash Lite for chumby widget development (I will not go into that here).

The new one contains some fixes, and is a bit easier to install.

Adobe Case Study - Chumby Industries, Inc.

Monday, January 21st, 2008

Chumby Industries has a recent case study posted on ADC. This is good high level read on how Chumby Industries is leveraging Flash Lite 3 within their consumer electronic device.

Here is a quote:

“Adobe Flash is the only stable, reliable product on the market to offer rich, colorful animation along with built-in security measures for media access. Rather than create a new suite of tools, we can leverage the sheer strength and expertise of the Flash community for content development.”

Stephen Tomlin, CEO, Chumby Industries, Inc
