3 generations of Flash Lite Mobile Guides for FITC.ca

Monday, April 21st, 2008

Recently, via Mark Doherty’s blog, I had noticed that Thomas Joos had created a mobile guide for the ongoing fitc.ca 2008 conference in Toronto this year (and also for FITC Amsterdam, previously this year).

I thought it was interesting to note the progression of mobile guides that have been created for the FITC conference (Toronto) over the past years, including:

2005 - (Flash Lite 1.1 - Creator: Scott Janousek, Target Device: Nokia 6620 or equivalent S60 device)

2007 - (Flash Lite 2.x - Creator: James Eberhardt, Target Device: Nokia 6680 or equivalent S60 device)

Adobe Device Central CS3 - Device Profile Update #4 released

Monday, November 19th, 2007

Adobe Device Central CS3

Device Profile Update #4 is now released for Adobe Device Central CS3.

Bill Perry has some installation comments, which you should read first.

Essentially … it boils down to installing the updates in “proper sequence”, (especially, if, say you’re just now catching up with Flash Lite and have a recent install with no previous updates. You’ll first want to install Profiles #1-3, before #4).

Also, it’s important to note this:

Before downloading Update #4, you must first download and install the Flash® Lite™ 3 Update for Device Central CS3.

Adobe DevNet article: 10 tips to help you develop better Flash Lite games

Thursday, January 17th, 2008

A new Adobe DevNet article: “Ten tips to help you develop better Flash Lite games” is available from Mariam.

“Mobile games are a big business with many talented developers creating compelling device content. Although most developers can write effective code, create interesting graphics, and test their games successfully, it is always helpful to review the best practices to follow—especially considering the wide variety of handsets on the market.

In this article I’ll provide tips to make your game design and development experience better and easier. My intention is not to provide an analysis of how to improve the game development process, but to share some tips that I picked up while developing Flash Lite games.”

Adobe e-seminar: Flash Lite and Flex for mTourism

Thursday, November 29th, 2007

Another e-seminar is scheduled for January 23, 2008 entitled: “Flash Lite and Flex for mTourism” by untravelmedia.com.

What they’re doing with Flash Lite is very cool.

The Flex app is also uniquely innovative, and I’m sure they’ll talk more about it in this session.

mTourism is an interesting market; and I’m confident will grow over time as people don’t think twice about using their respective mobile devices to look up schedules, places of interest, etc.

Adobe Flash Cast Demo from Mobile World Congress 2008

Friday, February 15th, 2008

Here’s a demo of Adobe Flash Cast at Mobile World Congress 2008 (on a series 60 Nokia N81 N73 which has Flash Lite 2.x).

If you were not aware, Adobe MaD announced Flash Cast 2 at the Congress recently … but I’m not 100% sure if this is a newer Mobile Client or not.
