3 generations of Flash Lite Mobile Guides for FITC.ca

Monday, April 21st, 2008

Recently, via Mark Doherty’s blog, I had noticed that Thomas Joos had created a mobile guide for the ongoing fitc.ca 2008 conference in Toronto this year (and also for FITC Amsterdam, previously this year).

I thought it was interesting to note the progression of mobile guides that have been created for the FITC conference (Toronto) over the past years, including:

2005 - (Flash Lite 1.1 - Creator: Scott Janousek, Target Device: Nokia 6620 or equivalent S60 device)

Adobe’s Booth at Mobile World Congress 2008

Wednesday, February 13th, 2008

I caught this off some Mobile World Congress 2008 coverage.

“Engaging Mobile Experiences - Delivered Across Devices”, “Mobile Author - Design, Preview, and Test Engaging Mobile Content”, “flash on.” are all visible

The only ones I can make out is Kathy C. (Adobe MaD) … and perhaps Paul Lamonby (?). Of course, if you pictured feel free to label the flickr image for the fun value.

Looks to be three elmo’s projecting live mobile content to some LCD’s … Mobile UI, Mobile Video, & can’t make out the last section … probably mobile applications and/or services.

Developing Flash Lite applications with dynamic layouts - ADC article

Tuesday, May 6th, 2008

Via Bill Perry (Adobe, Mobile and Devices): there is a new devnet (aka ADC) article on Developing Flash Lite applications with dynamic layouts.

“In this tutorial I describe the process I used to develop the dynamic layout of the Bacardi® Mobile Cocktail application.

I’ll cover how to react to environment changes, such as the current time of day, and how to implement automatic Stage size and orientation switching.

Automatic adjustment is especially important for devices such as the Nokia N95, because it is capable of changing its resolution. For other devices, you will learn how to manually alter the orientation of your application to mimic that functionality.

Extending your brand to the Chumby platform (via Flash Lite Widgets)

Thursday, May 8th, 2008

Here is an excellent example of extending a company’s brand into new mobile and embedded devices (which incidentally run Flash).

In this case, we are talking about the Chumby (an embedded open source internet connected device for delivering content).

Here is more about Dating DNA:

“Today, more and more people are using free social networking sites like MySpace, Facebook, Craigslist, and others to meet new people for dating. Utilizing these sites is free and provides a more natural way of meeting new people than traditional dating sites of the past, such as Match.com and eHarmony.

Kuneri Lite Advert - Handdrawn N95! Simply Awesome-ness!

Monday, April 7th, 2008

This advert where “Bilgehan” (over at Kuneri Lite) utilizes his unique talent of handrawing an N95 using Microsoft Paint and a mouse … is simple awesome-ness.

IMHO, it puts the iPhone “baby music” commercial to a bit of shame (even though it’s not an N95 commercial per se …)!

Spread the word and dig it.

Mobile Glimpse - HTML to Flash Lite!?

Friday, March 14th, 2008

Wisdom Web - Mobile Glimpse

I caught some news (about some Japanese companies that their showing some technology to US investors) that contained a new Flash Lite service/product in Japan

Seems to be some kind of transcoding service … but someone will have to verify.

“Wisdom Web’s “Mobile Glimpse” makes it possible to view contents on Websites with mobile terminals such as mobile phones in the same way as on PCs.

It converts HTML data into Flash Lite data so that users can browse Websites at high speed with mobile phones. The functions needed for browsing are not mounted on mobile phones but on servers.
