Adobe e-seminar: Flash Lite and Flex for mTourism

Thursday, November 29th, 2007

Another e-seminar is scheduled for January 23, 2008 entitled: “Flash Lite and Flex for mTourism” by untravelmedia.com.

What they’re doing with Flash Lite is very cool.

The Flex app is also uniquely innovative, and I’m sure they’ll talk more about it in this session.

mTourism is an interesting market; and I’m confident will grow over time as people don’t think twice about using their respective mobile devices to look up schedules, places of interest, etc.

Friday, February 15th, 2008

Here’s a demo of Adobe Flash Cast at Mobile World Congress 2008 (on a series 60 Nokia N81 N73 which has Flash Lite 2.x).

If you were not aware, Adobe MaD announced Flash Cast 2 at the Congress recently … but I’m not 100% sure if this is a newer Mobile Client or not.

Nokia Advertising powered Download! client (UK only)

For those living in the UK, Nokia BETA labs has an Advertising-powered Download! client for S60 available.

Supposedly, this is going to enable at least some of the downloadable content in the Download! catalog to be free.

Very cool (if you are in the UK).

Here is more info:

Overview

Download! is a service available today on Nokia devices. With Download! you can find, try and buy compatible mobile content. We’re testing a new version of Download! that includes banner ads – in the future these ads will fund some of the content available in Download! so you’ll be able to find more free downloads, more often.

Anup Muraka on Flash Mobile - Interview from Mobile World Congress 2008

Friday, February 15th, 2008

Here’s an interview from Anup (Director, Technical Marketing - Mobile and Devices at Adobe Systems Inc.) from Mobile World Congress 2008 speaking about the Flash platform in terms of mobile.

In it he makes it pretty clear what Adobe’s position is on Flash on the iPhone is (if you’re not already keen on how Adobe licenses out the player technology).

But, much more importantly, he also speaks to Adobe’s vision of Flash across mobile devices, and the mobile experience that Flash lends to mobile space (UI, downloadable content, data services) … all without the end user oblivious to what technology is being used!

Blizzard Entertainment looking for a Lead Mobile UI Designer/Software Engineer

Sunday, September 16th, 2007

blizzard.com

In line with my talk on Flash Lite casual game development session this week at Flashforward, I found these two postings from Blizzard … yeah, the guys who make WoW (World of Warcraft).

Good to see that yet another notable game company is starting to notice how Flash Lite can be leveraged in regards to user interface, rapid prototyping, and as tool for (casual) mobile game development … granted, even though these specific positions are multifaceted.
