“Hold the phone, Flash is coming” - Flash Lite article

Hold the phone, Flash is coming

I caught this article recently: “Hold the phone, Flash is coming”. I think it is an article out of Canada … since it quotes Dave Yang and James Eberhardt. It is a good read for a non-techie to pick up some info on Flash Lite. Read it.

“Mystic” Flash Lite 1.1 Screen Saver

Thursday, August 2nd, 2007

This is the result of a dream and a couple hours of pixel pushing and coding.

Tools and technologies used: Photoshop CS3, Flash CS3, Device Central, Flash Lite 1.1 (don’t sigh, it’s best since the 1.1 penetration rate is high and 1.1 is fine for simple content like this).

No download is available yet here, however distribution is coming soon. Stay tuned.

“The Lion City” - MAX AP 2006 (Singapore)

Saturday, November 4th, 2006

merlion

Next week I am giving a talk on Flash Lite on Nokia Series 40 at the MAX AP 2006 event in Singapore.

I have never been to this part of the world, so I am looking forward to it (well, maybe not the part about living on planes for an entire day!).

I am also excited about meeting up with other people from around the world to talk about Flash Mobile, and portable devices in general.

Monday, April 21st, 2008

Bill posted a breakdown of the Flash Lite devices in US and Western Europe, recently.

This information is pulled from mmetrics and is broken up by total Flash Lite devices in 6 regions (US, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, UK), as well as number of device models and number of addressable devices by platform (Nokia S60, Nokia Series 40, Sony Ericsson and BREW).

‘Super’ Smartphones coming?

Friday, August 24th, 2007

Via Technologies has managed to shrink an integrated motherboard down to 3″ by 1.7″ (smaller than the size of a standard business card).

Nothing surprising, just a bit of Moore’s law here.

Currently dubbed the “Mobile ITX” board, it has a low power consuming Via C7 CPU, memory, and chipset with integrated graphics and video capabilities.

Why am I posting? Well …

It’s innovations such as this that might provide some the needed muscle for more processor intensive content that we want to do with Flash and other mobile technologies … of course, we can do quite a bit today, but smaller … better, faster always helps on the hardware end of things.
